Partnership in Action

Phlebotomy Express

Phlebotomy Express is a training organization that prepares students for careers in phlebotomy and medical assisting. They partner with schools by offering hands-on phlebotomy training, certification preparation, and exposure to real clinical procedures, giving students a pathway into healthcare careers. Through these partnerships, students gain practical skills, industry-recognized credentials, and access to employment opportunities in hospitals, labs, and medical offices.

Backpacks to Briefcases

Our annual middle school career exploration event “Backpacks to Briefcases” provides rising 9th grade students an opportunity to explore various careers in a hands-on and interactive way to make more intentional choices about their high school curriculum. Students are able to engage with diverse postsecondary partners, employers and CTE programs to discover ways to build skills, gain certifications, and gain employment in high school.

Harper Woods CTE

Harper Woods College and Career Institute (CCI)  partnered with local businesses and trade providers to deliver a “Construction Trades” pathway for students. Thanks to those partnerships — involving employers, industry stakeholders, and training sponsors — students get hands-on exposure to real-world construction skills, access to training resources, and a clear path toward employment after graduation. The collaboration led to students creating brand new bookshelves for an elementary school library.

Summer Elevate

The Summer Elevate program is a partnership between Wayne RESA and Wayne County College Access Network that supports at-risk students through the transition between high school and college/postsecondary education. Summer Success Coaches support graduates through the often complicated postsecondary enrollment process including financial aid.

SEEIS Department

Special Education and Early Intervention Services (SEEIS) has attended our annual Business and Industry Partner Breakfast and shared valuable information about inclusive hiring and rethinking their talent pipeline. In addition, we support their Secondary and Adult transition Community of Practice, while they have provided professional development opportunities for Wayne County Counselors.
